ENHANCED FOCUS ON HEALTH & SAFETY

Our team's first priority every summer is the health and safety of our campers and staff. Summer 2021 is no different (policies may change with local guidelines):

• Requiring masks for campers and staff unless outside and socially distant
• Temperature checks for campers and staff upon arrival
• Small groups and no intermingling of groups
• Ongoing sanitizing throughout the day of door handles and high-touch areas

Counselors and staff are required to pass a Level II background screening. All exterior doors are locked and cannot be opened without an access pass. In addition, our security guards are on duty at all times throughout the campus.

THAT FAMILY FEELING

It’s that feeling you get when you enter the JCC and are greeted by name. It’s that feeling when you culminate the week by singing Shabbat songs with your friends. It’s that feeling of a close-knit JCC community where life-long friendships are created, summer memories are made, and friends, counselors, and staff become like family.

REGISTERED CAMP NURSE

Camp Shalom is thrilled to have a full-time registered nurse on staff every summer. Our nurse administers medications, helps with boo-boos and gives an extra dose of TLC when needed.

FIRST-RATE COMMUNICATION

Every week campers come home with personalized letters from their counselors highlighting each camper’s favorite activities. Unit heads have email addresses to provide more direct contact and communication. A photographer takes pictures at all the activities and you’ll get access to those pictures to share with family and friends.

 

SWIMMING

Daily free swim is offered to all campers and instructional swim for campers up to Grade 2 is available with our JSwim aquatics staff. Preschoolers have daily water play, whether it is running through our sprinkler park or swimming in the pool. Lifeguards are always on duty throughout the camp day.

FANTASTIC SPECIAL EVENTS

We look forward to theme days, such as Color Fun Run and Color War to name a few. Our campers love our famous end-of-camp Carnival with bounce houses and games. These are some of our most memorable days and the ones our campers talk about year after year.

LUNCH

Hate packing lunch? No problem! Camp Shalom offers an optional lunch you can buy for your camper. Choose lunch options for as little as one day a week or for the entire week! All lunches include a fresh fruit or vegetable and a dessert. Lunches are nut-free but are produced in a facility that uses nuts, soy and dairy in recipes.

Monday: Pasta with butter or red sauce
Tuesday: Bagel with cream cheese or butter
Wednesday: Chicken tenders with fries
Thursday: Hot dog and chips
Friday: Pizza

All lunches are served with a snack and a fruit or veggies. Campers should bring their own water or other drink. Click here to order >>

SHABBAT & JEWISH VALUES

Our camp is woven with the Jewish values of kavod (respect), community, and Hachnasat Orchim (welcoming guests). We celebrate each week together with a Shabbat program that includes singing, dancing, challah snacks, and of course lots of ruach (spirit)! Camp Shalom embraces and welcomes everyone in our community regardless of religious affiliation. We encourage everyone to seek meaning and fulfillment by participating in our rich programming inspired by our Jewish heritage.

LOW STAFF TO CHILD RATIOS

Camp Shalom maintains a low staff to child ratio which allows counselors to form relationships with their campers and better supervise the daily activities.
